After years of war and setbacks in the Federation, Starfleet was left very weak. After the war with the Dominion, Starfleet had lost many ships, and a lot of good people. But not only Starfleet had been weakened, also the Romulans and the Klingon Empire had been weakened.

Starfleet came up with a new plan to protect itself against any threads that might come in the next few years. They set up a new project, under the name: Freedom.

The project was to create a special Starbase, with a support Fleet. This project had been classified till it had been constructed. The Starbase is located near earth and will serve as a last defence against any enemy attacks.

The fleet consists of several brand new vessels that have state of the art technology on board. This fleet will try to keep the peace in the alpha quadrant, and will engage any hostile enemy threads. Its primary directive is to protect the federation.
