COURSE |

| Cadets
who want to become Department Heads or Top Command personnel
are usually required to attend Command School for four years
following their Cadet training. At Command School, they
will obtain skills to run their own departments and captain
starships. But also learn to command people beneath them. |

| COMMAND
POSITIONS INFORMATION |

| Commanding
Officer |
| Every
Starfleet facility has a single commanding officer responsible
for the safety of his/her crew and the success of their
missions. S/he has final accountability for any actions
taken by his/her crew, and Starfleet goes to great lengths
to prepare a Commanding Officer for the job ahead, including
the interpretation and execution of Starfleet rules and
regulations. |

| Executive
Officer |
| Besides
leading a facility when the Commanding Officer is unable
to, the Executive Officer often assists the Commanding Officer
and serves as liaison with the crew. S/he oversees a ship
or base's day-to-day operations and advises the CO on important
matters. |

Lieutenant Commander |

| Second
Officer |
| At
times the Executive Officer must assume command of a starship
or base, when this happens the Executive Officer needs the
help of another officer to assume his/her role as Executive
Officer. The second officer is not a stand alone position,
but a role given to the highest ranked and/or trusted officer
aboard. When required the Second Officer will assume the
role of Executive Officer, or if needed Commanding Officer,
and perform there duties as listed, for as long as required. |
